At yesterday’s Vista session, delivered by Dan Moth, he demonstrated a lot of Vista’s [graphical] features, including the rather neat thumbnail preview of applications that are on the task bar.

If you’re running Windows XP, a similar effect can be achieved using Visual Tasktips.
